We heard from one of our trusty blog reviewers that she eats mustard on pizza. Being the curious bunch that we are over at Green Mountain Mustard, we e-mailed her to see how she uses it. It turns out that she uses it right on the crust or puts it on leftover pizza. We went to town a few nights ago figuring out a simple pizza recipe that you can make at home in no time using a store-bought crust. Here we go:
| Sweet Local Pizza |
Recipe type: Main
Author:
Prep time: 15 mins
Cook time: 12 mins
Total time: 27 mins
Serves: 3
Ingredients
- 1 Store bought Pizza Crust (we used a wood-fired rectangular one from Shaws)
- 1/2 bag of Pizza Cheese
- 1/4 cup Green Mountain Mustard – Sweet Hot
- 2 t Garlic Powder
- 2 t Dried Oregano
- 1/3 package of Vermont Smoke & Cure Pepperoni – arguably the greatest pepperoni on the planet.
Instructions
- Place pizza on baking stone or cookie sheet.
- Put mustard in a microwave safe dish and microwave for 45 seconds to make it a bit more liquid. Pour over the pizza crust and spread, as you would pizza sauce.
- Cover with pizza cheese and then sprinkle oregano and garlic powder on top of the cheese.
- Slice up pepperoni 1/8″ thick and place on top of the pizza – slice off a few extra and enjoy some before it hits the heat.
- Bake pizza according to directions on back of the crust – slice it up and serve hot.
Notes
We thought the Sweet Hot Mustard gave the pizza a nice little bite and added flavor when combined with the cheese and dried oregano. If you’re trying to do this on the cheap, you don’t need to use Vermont Smoke and Cure Pepperoni, but we highly recommend it.
